Experience with Children’s Issues

Ellie has experience with: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), sensory processing difficulties, learning difficulties, social skills, handwriting difficulties and emotional regulation. As part of her previous experience, Ellie worked closely with physiotherapists, speech pathologists and psychologists to develop collaborative therapy plans to support client’s and their families to reach their goals.

What approach does Ellie take and is she right for you?

Ellie strongly values a collaborative approach and seeks to work with the child, family, educators, and other health professionals to enable the child to reach their full potential and transfer skills and strategies practiced in therapy into all areas of their life. Ellie seeks to utilise a strengths-based and family-centred approach in therapy and enjoys watching client’s and families develop their confidence to engage in tasks and reach their goals together.

Ellie welcomes feedback and discussion from families to refine therapy activities and align with the child and family’s developing needs and goals.

What happens if your therapist is not the best fit for you (or they don’t feel best equipped to help you)?

Sometimes despite our best efforts, you or the therapist may find that you are not a good fit. If your therapist feels that they are not best suited to you, they will discuss this with you and recommend a more appropriate therapist. We will then offer you a discounted first session with a new more appropriate therapist at Kids Matters.

If you feel that your therapist is not a good fit within the first three sessions, simply discuss this with our admin team and they will find a more suitable therapist.
