Dr Micah Perez is a Senior Occupational Therapist, and has over 10 years’ experience as an occupational therapist, working across various areas of practice (public, private and educational sectors). She loves working with neurodivergent children and families at Kids Matters OT; and is a clinical educator (sessional academic) at Griffith University.

Micah has worked with a range of children and disability groups including Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental delays, motor coordination difficulties, sensory processing challenges, learning difficulties, and self-care difficulties (e.g. toileting, dressing, eating).

Certified CO-OP Therapist – she can provide a specialised coaching intervention that engages children at the meta-cognitive level to solve performance problems (please note this intervention is not suitable for all children).

Certified SOS Approach to Feeding Therapist – she can provide specialised services to assist with feeding (please note this intervention is not suitable for all children).

Micah continues to undertake a wide range of relevant continuing professional education and training each year to stay up to date with the latest assessments and interventions.

Micah uses a customised, goal-focused, client-centred approach that incorporates evidence-based practice and fun! Micah also incorporates what is interesting, enjoyable and motivating for clients. She also uses a neurodivergent-affirming approach for her neurodivergent clients.

Micah specialises in working with individuals aged 3 to 18, with varied needs. These include (but are not limited to) global developmental delay (GDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Micah can assist with daily living skills such as self-care (e.g. dressing, feeding, toileting), regulation (e.g. cognitive, emotional, behavioural and sensory needs), social and play skills, academic skills (e.g. reading, writing, spelling, drawing, scissor use, following instructions, initiating and completing tasks), and physical activities (e.g. riding a bike, skateboarding, ball sports, playing music).

As Micah’s cultural heritage is Filipino-Australian, she also enjoys working with children and families from The Philippines, as sessions can be provided bilingually (i.e. Tagalog and English) if required.

Micah loves cooking and baking, singing, and playing instruments (e.g. piano, keyboard, guitar). She enjoys going on hikes to be in nature, and windsurfing. She is currently learning French, studying at DELF B1 level.
