Ever since we started our private practice in 2003, we have encountered people seeking our services who cannot afford the therapy fees. It’s heartbreaking to turn away children and families who are in need of help but are in a position where they can’t pay. So when we had the opportunity to set up a Not-for-Profit company in late 2022, we jumped at the chance.
The Kids Matters Community Foundation was established on the 27th January 2023. Our goal is to bridge the gap for those unable to access services for financial reasons across Australia. So far the Foundation has been able to provide assessment and strategies to a family who needed support to help their child at home, and to access funding from the NDIS.
The Foundation’s next focus is to help parents without funding to access our Circles of Security (COS) courses. This is where parents learn how to read the needs of their children and build attachment, connection and security that will last a lifetime. COS parent courses change lives. The next Kids Matters COS course is in February 2024 and we will be running more courses throughout the year. We are keen to fund several families to do this course through The Kids Matters Community Foundation. https://kidsmatters.com.au/events/circle-of-security/
The Foundation is and will be funded by donations from businesses (including Kids Matters OT), community and government grants, and generous donations from other families seeking to lend a hand.
