We're here for your family... whatever changes ahead!
We know that recent announcements about the NDIS and the upcoming Thriving Kids program may be creating uncertainty for families. When funding and supports are in flux, it can feel overwhelming, especially when your focus is simply on doing what is best for your child.
At Kids Matters OT, we want you to know: we are here, we are across it, and we will help you navigate whatever comes next.
What is Thriving Kids?
Thriving Kids is a new national program announced by the Australian Government. It is designed to support children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism who have low to moderate support needs, by connecting them with early support through everyday community settings, such as health services, schools, and early childhood education.
The program is set to begin rolling out from 1 October 2026, with full rollout expected by 1 January 2028.
How Kids Matters OT can support your family:
Our team is committed to staying up to date with all changes in the sector so we can guide you through what these reforms mean in practical terms for your child and your family. No matter how the system changes, our focus stays the same: helping children and families access quality, evidence-informed support.
We support families through a range of funding and payment options, including:
- NDIS funding (plan managed, self managed, or agency managed)
- Private funding / Private Health Insurance
- GP Chronic Condition Management Plans (GPCCMPs)
- Mental Health Care Plans (MHCPs) (available for mental health endorsed therapists only)
If your child’s funding situation changes, or if you are unsure what options are available to your family, our team is here to help you explore next steps. You do not need to figure this out alone.
We’ll keep you informed:
As Thriving Kids details are confirmed, we will share updates with our families directly. We know navigating change takes energy that families often don’t have spare, and we appreciate the trust you place in us to keep you informed.
