What is Circle of Security?
The Circle of Security is a visual map to help you understand your child’s behaviour and what their attachment needs are at different times. Learn to see when your child is going out to explore and needing you to watch over, delight, help, or enjoy with them. Learn to see when your child is coming in for comfort, needs you to delight in them, protect them or organise their feelings.
Learn effective ways to understand and respond to your child’s needs and behaviour
What is the Circle of Security Parenting™ program
The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. You can gain an understanding of what gets in the way of being able to meet your child’s needs on the circle, including “shark music” (triggers), mis-cueing and what you can do about these, in the context of a loving and supporting group. The program can also be delivered individually on request.
Who is the program for?
Parents and carers of children all ages.
The program can benefit those who want to:
- Feel supported to navigate parenting challenges.
- Gain a sense of community and connection among other parents in the group.
- Understand the ways that you as a parent serve as a secure base for your child/ children.
- Increase your awareness of your child’s needs.
- Learn how to develop a positive and secure relationship with your child.
- Learn how to read your child’s needs and understand their emotional world.
- Gain an understanding of your own parenting style (strengths and weakness) and how that may differ from your partners’ style.
- Find ways of working as a parenting team together.
