SOS Approach to Feeding
Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS Model)
Gian believes that approaching kids requires a thoughtful, child-centred approach that fosters engagement, trust, and cooperation. This includes establishing rapport, incorporating both strength based and play-based approaches, involving parents and caregivers into the therapy process and communicating with both the child and the family effectively. Lastly, he advocates for incorporating sensory strategies into therapy, as well as for setting clear goals at the start of the therapy process and for celebrating all forms of progress, no matter how small.
Gian is an only child and was born and raised in the Philippines. He grew up in a multicultural community, wherein he engaged in different outdoor games and sports with his friends and cousins. This focus on games moulded his perception on the value of play as more of a means than an end towards supporting growth and development, building resilience, strengthening social bonds and fostering lifelong skills. Gian also grew up in a culture that promoted family values, which helps him structure the therapy towards meeting the family where they are at.
Outside of work, Gian enjoys engaging in different hobbies and experiences. He enjoys taking care of animals, particularly his dachshund named Dolce. He enjoys listening to music, playing video games, long distance running, hiking and playing team sports. Gian also enjoys visiting parks and beaches, solving puzzles, building Lego sets, as well as cooking meals.
